Milestone Roadmap
New-User Walkthrough
The walkthrough tour is intentionally deferred. The docs area is live now, and the tour should be built later after the core budget screens are stable enough to anchor a calm first-run experience.
Not Built In Phase 10
This phase adds the help area and leaves the actual guided tour as a future milestone.
1. Define the tour contract
Lock what the walkthrough should teach before building any overlay or tour library.
Ready to plan
- Choose the first-run surfaces: budget overview, expenses tab, profile expenses, reports, and help.
- Decide whether the tour is automatic on first visit, manually launched, or both.
- Write short labels for each stop without blocking normal app use.
2. Map stable UI anchors
Wait until the core budget screens settle so the tour does not point at moving targets.
Later
- Add stable data attributes only after the final screen structure is approved.
- Include mobile and desktop anchor behavior.
- Avoid anchoring to temporary cards or experimental report sections.
3. Build dismissible walkthrough
Build the actual new-user tour after the docs and core flows are stable.
Later
- Track whether a user has dismissed or completed the tour.
- Allow replay from Help.
- Make every step skippable.
4. Accessibility and QA pass
Verify the walkthrough helps without trapping keyboard, screen-reader, or mobile users.
Later
- Check focus management.
- Check reduced-motion behavior.
- Check logged-in, setup-complete, and incomplete-setup states.
